If you know someone who has an Apple product, chances are you’ve heard about the merits of the iCloud. For the uninitiated iCloud is a type of online computer, a place where you can safely store your music, documents, contacts, calendars and more all while accessing them from any of your apple devices at anytime (laptop, iPhone, iPod, iPad etc.). Apparently not happy enough with only those peripherals available, Apple has joined with GM to bring the iCloud to your car, specifically the Spark and the Sonic. Yes, you read that correctly, Tonawanda’s GM plant is soon to be the home of the most sophisticated small block V8 engine in the world. It’s going to go into 2014 Corvettes, it already has a nickname (the LT1), and it is going to be made here in Western New York. With no less than 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque for this 6.2L engine the LT1 is expected to become one of the all-time great engines, and here’s why:

These days it is no secret that all automotive manufacturers are looking to create vehicles that are more fuel efficient while not compromising any of the performance that North American consumers have become accustomed to.  This particular view of Chevrolet’s long term automotive goals is actually  narrow itself.  Chevrolet’s Senior Vice President Mary Barra outlined the on-going thinking at Chevrolet in regards to the future in a recent opinion piece.

This week Chevrolet announced it would donate fifty pick up trucks and vans to the Red Cross to aid in the recovery efforts.  This is in addition to a donation of $250,000 that Chevrolet had already made to the Red Cross earlier to help with relief efforts underway on the east coast.
